The big day is exactly two months away. "61 days," says Jesse. I haven't had time to just be excited about how soon it's coming since the moving-out-of-my-apartment thing came up just a few short weeks ago. Wedding planning has taken a back seat; we've been preoccupied with purging, packing and prepping for Tuesday's move. I can't believe we've been able to get so much accomplished (find apartment, verify roommate, pack, and now move) in three weeks! No wonder I'm so tired these days. Fortunately, Jesse's been on the ball with so many of the details. Moving is certainly much easier when you're a team.

Yesterday I went to see my seamstress for the first time. I found her on kijiji so I wasn't too sure, but she was super nice on the phone, which helped me relax more. You see, ordering things online has always been something I've found intimidating. What if you don't like it? What if it never arrives? What if it doesn't fit? Thus, ordering my wedding dress off of Etsy felt like a huge risk. I knew the dress was too big, and I could tell it had wonky bullet boobs, but it was exactly the style I was looking for. Plus, I couldn't pass up a dress for under $280 with shipping!
Before I bought the dress, however, I did some research to make sure I would be able to find a seamstress who could alter it for me back in Ottawa. I'd been doing all my dress shopping online while in White Dog, so I didn't want to come home to find no suitable seamstress could be found. The first one I spoke to quoted me $700 for the alterations. SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS! Are you kidding me?! Really, she wasn't at all comfortable working with vintage fabrics. I decided to do a little more searching and was happy to find Enza, who not only had an amazing accent, but said she was quite sure she could fix the dress for me. She quoted me $100. I bought the dress. Then all I had to do was wait.
After much worrying, the dress arrived in one piece, it wasn't as big as I'd thought, and didn't need the complicated hem job I'd originally expected. And, it was - is - beautiful! (I feel so girly speaking like this... I've not been one of those to dream up my whole wedding since I was a fetus...). The biggest problem: a bodice that's loose and bullet shaped boobs with wonky boning, that was about 3 sizes too big in the bust. Yikes.
Fortunately, after visiting Enza, I'm feeling pretty relaxed about the whole thing. She pulled out the boning, pinned me up, and I could visualize how it will turn out two months from now. I won't have "Madonna boobies", as Enza put it with her thick Italian accent. I should hope not!
