First Official Engagement Celebration

Last Thursday, some of the older folks from Jesse's church joined us to celebrate our engagement. The dinner was hosted by Vera, a wonderful woman and friend of Jesse's. She made an amazing buffet of gourmet food: flan, salmon and mushroom stuffed puff-pastry, mushrooms and rice salad, avocado mousse, sauteed vegetables, cottage cheese and parsley stuffed tomatoes, cream-cheese stuffed cucumber... the list goes on. I can't even remember all of the food choices, but I do remember that everything she made tasted incredible and it was all from scratch, including the puff pastry. I joked that this was a better spread than our wedding will be! For dessert there were homemade chocolate tarts with raspberries, fruit salad, and marzipan cake. She had some help from friends and there was more than enough wine to go around.

We enjoyed sharing the story of how we met, our summer in White Dog, the plans and details of our wedding and our future goals. It was so nice to get to know more people at Jesse's church, since we're both part of different communities. Some of the clergy were present, as well, so it was good to chat about Orthodoxy and what that means. We left Vera's place full to the brim of delicious food, good conversation, and happy memories.

Thanks Vera and co.!
